Within our Global Blade Technology department, we are currently looking for a Materials Engineer for a Composite Component to join Our Blade Materials Team.

How to contribute to our vision

The Blade Materials Team is responsible for innovation and development of new materials, as well as the development and maintenance of technical requirement specifications. We help establish the engineering characteristics for composite laminates and adhesives, creating the consolidation for material approvals and establishment of design values.

In this position, you will be the Materials Engineer of a Composite Component manufactured at sub-suppliers. You will be responsible for the testing and characterization of the composite material properties, and qualification and introduction of new and improved materials and processes. Moreover, you will be responsible for requirements and build-to-print specifications towards sub-suppliers.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting test execution at internal/external institutes.
  • Cause and effect analysis of material parameters and their influence on the blade integrity.
  • Derivation and development of material quality characteristics according to blade requirements
  • Engage in contact with certification bodies and ensure compliance with certification requirements.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for a candidate with a structured approach to tasks, who also can drive several assignments in collaboration with stakeholders both internal as well as external. Furthermore, the candidate should be comfortable working independently and possess a flair for IT.

We are looking for candidates that hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar. Experience from the wind, aerospace or automotive industry will be considered a benefit but is not a requirement. A thorough knowledge in the area of mechanics of composite materials, including experience with material characterization and testing, failure analysis, composite manufacturing and fracture mechanics is a requirement for this position.

Knowledge of certification, coupon and sub-structure/component testing methodologies is preferable.

Composite design and construction experience, including knowledge of 3D design and analysis tools like ANSYS/Matlab will be an advantage.

You should furthermore have excellent English and communication skills and be able to communicate your results in a clear and convincing manner.
