Job Description

We are looking for a Director Logistics & Planning to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. As part of our new Gigafactory in Heide (Northvolt Drei) you will have the chance to contribute to the first large scale European battery factories by building a Logistics & Planning organization to define and operate an onsite comprehensive material flow process.

About the job

You have the possibility to shape Northvolt's setup in Germany and contribute to a lighthouse project for Germany's energy and industrial transition. You will be responsible for setting up the logistics function for the entire factory, including material flow design, warehousing, transportation, material and production planning. Your success will be measured by the logistics organization performance in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Costs.

You will maintain a close exchange with our colleagues in all other Northvolt locations to strive for logistics excellence, continuous improvement and lessons learned.

About the team

You will be part of a highly dynamic, driven and dedicated organization in a fast-paced environment. This means working in a cross-functional and international setup as well as acting as an intrapreneur. As part of the plant leadership team, you will have freedom to create and use your experience to make real impact.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set up and lead the entire Northvolt Drei Logistics & Planning organization
  • Fully own material planning, shopfloor logistics, warehousing, and transport management
  • Accountable for factory inventory and operations support
  • Actively drive holistic value stream designs on factory level
  • Define, implement and continuously improve all logistics & planning processes in line with internal standards and external requirements like IATF 16949
  • Ensure transparency and traceability through utilizing and further driving the development of our EPR system
  • Continuously improve concepts and processes through external benchmark and active alignment with the other Northvolt factories
  • Own design and execution of external transportation from suppliers and to customers incl. return management
  • Oversee project logistics of process equipment regarding last mile delivery and warehousing concept, their implementation and execution
  • Own logistics KPIs including effectiveness and efficiency, budget, invest and headcount

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • 8+ years leadership experience in production environment, especially in material planning and shopfloor logistics
  • Proven track record in successfully leading leaders, attracting and retaining talent and developing a high performance logistics organization
  • Both strategic mindset and operational skills, solution-oriented thinking and ability to keep challenging status quo
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent English written and oral skills

Bonus points for

  • Experience in battery or automotive industry
  • Experience in greenfield environments
  • Fluency in German or other languages
  • International work experience
