Job Description

We are looking for a driven Construction Manager focusing on Instrumentation & Controls to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Cathode Active Material team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up our Cathode Active Material department and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job: The Construction Manager leads a team to supervise the construction activities assigned to third party contractors, and ensures compliance with schedule, costs, quality, health, safety and environmental protection requirements. Specifically for Process Instrumentation & Controls, the Senior Construction Engineer shall have solid background in installation and pre-commissioning of instrumentation and cabling for plant monitoring and process control systems as well as data & fiber networking. The Construction Manager shall oversee the installation and pre-commissioning of these systems for the production of Cathode Active Materials, Waste Water Treatment and utilities distribution. Relevant experience in DCS Architecture and components, System Configuration & Programming, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is needed

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attending the tests, controls and inspections carried out by Contractor and it sub-contractors, checking conformity required by Northvolt specifications, European Norms & Directives and National Standards (including ATEX where applicable)
  • Ensuring the orderly collection and management of written records of inspections, controls and test results by Main Contractor for the purpose of approvals of mechanically completed plant systems
  • Participating in determining corrective actions and then ensuring correct implementation of the activities for resolving cases of nonconformity;
  • Facilitate the handover of completed systems to the Northvolt Commissioning and/or Facilities teams.
  • Ensuring, with the support of the Northvolt HSE Team the field control of HSE aspects, also with reference to activities developed by Contractors/Suppliers

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or relevant field in instrumentation & control
  • 8 years of experience in industrial construction project involving: – the integration of DCS systems with other plant systems, such as:
  • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS),
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems,
  • Analytical instruments. – Quality Control and Inspection
  • Familiarity with IEC Standards (International Electrotechnical Commission) such as: – IEC 61511: Functional Safety - Safety Instrumented Systems for the Process Industry Sector
  • Familiarity with API (American Petroleum Institute) standards, such as:

  • – API 500 for instrumentation in process control systems – API 551 for recommended practices for process measurement – API552 for Transmission systems – API 670 for machinery protection systems.

  • Familiarity with European Norms (EN) such as the SS-EN 764 series (Pressure Equipment)

  • Knowledgeable about Mechanical LOT

Certifications:

  • Driver's license class B valid in Sweden/Eu

  • BAM (Bättre Arbetsmiljö) and BAS-P/U course highly valued

  • Heta Arbeten Permit Issuer (hot works loss prevention) course highly valued

  • Work at height, MEWP, safe lifting, and Scaffold <9m training certifications highly valued

Other valuable (but not required experience):

  • Familiarity with Ab04 (general conditions of contract for building & civil engineering works & building services)
  • Familiarity with ABT06 (general conditions of contract for design & construct contracts for building, civil engineering, and installation works)
  • Familiary with Sweden's Arbetsmiljöverket Laws and Provisions applicable to construction projects
  • Familiarity with applicable AMA codes, SSG standards and BBR (Boverkets Buggregler) building regulations.

Language Skills:

  • English & English proficiency mandatory
  • Proficiency with the language of Contractor manpower highly valued as well

Computer Literacy:

  • MS Office
  • MS Project or other Planning/Scheduling software highly valued
