Job Description

A Bank Accountant is responsible for maintaining a bank's financial records, including posting incoming and outgoing bank transactions, processing vendor, intercompany and employees payments including payroll, preparing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations, and developing strategies to improve profitability. Bank Accountants must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Key responsibilities:

• Posting incoming and outgoing bank transactions
• Ensure reconciliation of all bank balances and timely uploading of bank statements
• Processing outgoing payments based on the weekly payment schedule, specific terms and methods
• Handling high volume bank transactions
• Support in the transition processes from various entities
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all account balances match with the posting in ERP
• Preparing financial statements and reports
• Assist with month-end financial closing
• Develop and implement cash and bank management tools for fully automated payment process
• Maintain strong communications with banks and other financial service providers
• Manage the company’s bank accounts, repository signatories, accesses, and bank related documentation

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have: 

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
• 2+ years of relevant experience in Cash and Bank Accounting or similar role
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards
• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a plus • Advanced skills in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis and reporting
• Good familiarity with cash/bank management systems and knowledge of cash management processes and General Accounting principles
• Good fundamentals of financial statements analysis
• Excel proficiency and working knowledge of MS Office
• Fluency in English

About the company

Northvolt is a European supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. Founded in 2016 to enable the European transition to a decarbonized future, Northvolt has made swift progress on its mission to deliver the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery with a minimal CO2 footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling. Northvolt Ett is a next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, the gigafactory will be one of the largest battery cell factory in Europe and produce at least 32 GWh of capacity annually.

Alongside Northvolt Ett, Northvolt is also establishing a manufacturing site for battery systems in Gdansk, Poland. This facility, Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, will industrialize and produce world leading battery systems in order to meet the increased demand for complete battery solutions on the European market. The factory is a highly automated, state-of-the-art production facility for battery modules and energy storage solutions.

We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a dynamic environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs in Västerås, as well as Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, in Gdansk, for production of battery systems. We are also preparing for upcoming positions at the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå.
