Production Planner

Einkauf & Logistik

Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate such that we need more brilliant minds to come work with us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.

Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. Basically, we exist to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process. If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like work for Oatly, too. Now onto the formal stuff.

We are looking for a Production Planner to join our factory team in Utah. This role will be responsible for collaborating with the central Planning team, and then updating and monitoring the production schedule for oat base, and working with our on-site partner to plan and monitor the production of finished goods. This role will also supervise a shipping and receiving team.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • In conjunction with central planning, create the production schedule for oat base based on the needs of the on-site partner and the products that need to be made to maintain inventory and service levels.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot attainment of finished goods by our partners daily, ensuring that the production that is needed is produced and quality cleared so that it can be shipped to customers.
  • Communicate any downtime at the site, as well as any necessary changes to the production schedule for ourselves or our on-site partner.
  • Communicate forecast quantities and troubleshoot any bottlenecks, whether related to downtime, ingredient outages, or quality issues.
  • Update the tanker load out schedule, and share it with the transportation team.
  • Review and analyze capacity constraints, and coordinate with TPM, Engineering and others to remedy.
  • Maintain master data in the ERP system to create the production schedule across all production.
  • Expedite and re-plan as necessary to meet changing requirements of raw materials, repack if necessary, quality holds, and customer orders to minimize inventory risk, and satisfy customer needs.
  • Supervise, lead and develop a shipping and receiving team, including timekeeping, progressive discipline, interviewing training, and ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Cross train with procurement and logistics to ensure that all necessary changes are known and accounted for.
  • Comply with GMPs, PPE, sanitation procedures, general housekeeping and food safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Here are the things we think you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or a related discipline;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, food is preferred;
  • Previous leadership experience;
  • Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics D365 is a huge plus;
  • Experience in Microsoft applications for reporting, Excel skills required;
  • High degree of initiative and ownership, attention to detail, and stick-to-it-iveness;
  • Good mathematical skills, and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities;
  • Willingness to accept new responsibilities and challenges;
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects;
  • Ability to travel up to 15 miles away from the plant, to visit Oatly’s 3rd party warehouses in relation to planning inventory or transfers; and
  • Ability to repeat motions that may include use of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and standing or sitting for prolonged periods (average 8-12 hours)
  • Ability to read, write & speak English specific to work instructions, including but not limited to safety practices.

And here’s another list of qualities we think make a good Oatly team member:

  • You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
  • You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership and need partners that can embrace that mentality
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit in that you’re comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up
  • You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with your coworkers

Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long sentence with all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us, like providing 20 days paid vacation, really great benefits, genuinely great coworkers who want to see the company and each other succeed, and a start-up vibe with an established company history.

Our team is available to support you through the hiring process with reasonable accommodations to enable a barrier-free interview experience. We will maintain candidate privacy and confidentiality to enable an unbiased and equitable experience.
