Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and driven Director of Customer Programs to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is part of Customer Project Management team, which is based across the different Northvolt sites. By joining us, you will be a key player in driving our customer projects and programs, to successfully develop, industrialize, and launch the batteries in close collaboration with our customers.

About the job: The Director of Customer Programs holds an important leadership position within our Customer Project Management team. You will lead a set of projects and programs delivering to some of our largest automotive customers. The programs follow our products throughout the entire life cycle, from the opening of a customer opportunity, until the end of production. You will lead and guide a team of Project and Program managers and oversee a portfolio of projects for dedicated customers. The project managers drive cross-functional teams that develop industrialize, ramp up, and maintain all automotive products, in very close relationships with our customers. In a scaling and fast-developing company, the challenge is equally great to manage our customers and keep up with the internal operational development.

About the team: The diverse and highly motivated team of Customer project/program managers is based out of different locations in Northvolt. They are closely working with the customers and the main operational functions to ensure successful development, industrialization, and ramp-up of our products from project initiation to closing.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee a diverse and international team of Customer Project and Program Managers.
  • Lead and develop the Customer Program Team and ensure continuous improvement in our execution processes.
  • Cultivate a multicultural environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure a successful development and delivery of our products from project initiation to closing
  • Product management including driving a product roadmap on relevant cell formats, in line with the customer and market expectations.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to ensure alignment and progress of our customer programs across the organization.
  • Engage in high-level management discussions both internally and with customers, establishing an escalation step and matching customer hierarchies.
  • Customer stakeholder management and relation-building with key customer interfaces.
  • Develop and execute project management strategies in line with the company’s long-term goals
  • Make strategic decisions and priorities to meet project goals and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of customer projects and programs.

The person we are looking for is driven, process-oriented, and structured. You thrive by leading others and working towards common goals. You are used to a fast-paced work environment and have excellent communication skills. Qualities that we cherish are flexibility, a sense of quality, friendliness, motivation to take on new challenges, grit, and a sense of humor. You will need to travel to our customers and to our sites on a regular basis.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A degree in engineering
  • 10+ years of working experience, preferably in the battery or automotive industry
  • Leadership skills in an international and multicultural environment
  • Management experience of leading teams by objectives.
  • Curious, commercial, and technically minded with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Confidence and ability to build strong and challenging working relations
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Excellent English written and oral skills

Bonus points for:

  • International work experience
  • Flexibility regarding the location
  • Understanding of Automotive OEMs and their supply chain management.
