Resource Operations Manager

The resource department is part of the greater operations department supporting service sites and construction projects with technicians and field support personnel. The department is responsible to provide Vestas trained and qualified technicians as well as contractor personnel as requested by operations, service and construction. This group is a key activity within the company because execution of construction projects and service plans in dependent on the ability to move resources where they are needed on schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage 20–35 remote technicians ranging from entry-level to supervisor level.

  • Serve as a liaison between site managers, senior operations managers, directors, and corporate office on technical issues

  • Manage resources schedules and work assignment locations remotely

  • Interact with vendors for site support

  • Assist with budget development, and cost tracking for direct reports

  • Travel 25 - 30%

  • Responsible for developing and managing their technician pool to ensure the area is properly staffed and prepared to respond to unscheduled maintenance needs

  • Responsible for the employment matters within their area resource technician team including hiring, development, employee relations, performance management, performance appraisals, etc.

  • Partner with Area Manager and Site Managers to coordinate unscheduled services and CIM work with ongoing site activities to enhance turbine and employee productivity

  • Partner with Area and Site Managers to ensure 365/24/7 operation functionality of the sites

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent, with 3–5 years of experience in project management, supervision, or related leadership roles within the industrial or construction industry.

  • Candidates without a degree should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience in a comparable technical field.

  • Technical background or equivalent education

  • Valid driver's license, passport and ability to travel as needed to meet business objectives

  • Experience with and ability to coordinate and manage projects

  • Ability to speak and understand technical language

  • Proficient English communication skills (verbal, active listening, written, meeting management, presentation)

  • Business financial knowledge

  • Proficient PC computer skills (MS Office) required; SAP knowledge; MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project management programs.

  • Possesses a high level of accountability and ownership in tasks; functions effectively in stressful environments of conflicting demands; efficiently handles multiple tasks at once

  • Prior wind or renewable energy experience.

  • Ex-military candidates with leadership experience welcomed to apply

  • French or Spanish language skills are a plus

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

  • Valid driver's license, passport and ability to travel as needed to meet business objectives

  • Ability to manage a team

  • Ability to establish targets and translate them into actionable plans
