Job Description

Join the Northvolt Dwa team in Gdansk as a Systems Engineer and play a crucial role in leading the technical development and improvement of our cutting-edge battery system products.

In this role, you would be...

  • Leading the technical development of our state-of-the-art battery system products, from conception to deployment.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary R&D projects, enhancing your engineering skills and contributing to the fast-growing industry of electromobility and energy storage.
  • Drive problem-solving processes, supporting production, addressing customer issues, and contributing to new feature development.
  • Acquire knowledge about regulatory requirements and certification processes for international markets.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals from diverse fields of expertise, sharing and fostering a passion for engineering.
  • Take on a leadership role, setting the direction and making technical decisions to optimize products for reliability, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Manage technical changes through a change control board.
  • Develop and manage product requirements and design sets, ensuring analysis and testing are conducted to meet evolving standards.
  • Explore opportunities to create novel production and development test systems for process improvement.

Who are we looking for? ****We're looking to build a diverse team, and are therefore looking for both senior experts as well as someone who's starting out their career as a Systems Engineer. If you don't have experience as a Systems Engineer yet, this is a great opportunity for someone with a couple of years of experience in product development of hardware, electrical, power electronics or embedded software domain, that are looking to steer their career towards seniority and leading roles.

Skills & Requirements

Requirements:

  • University and/or Masters degree in Engineering related to electrical systems or equivalent experience.
  • A couple of years of experience in either Systems Engineering or Product Development.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English.

Not a must, but a plus:

  • Familiarity with electromobility system design and/or energy storage.
  • Working understanding of relevant standards and certifications for battery system products.
  • Experience in requirement management, test processes, and concept design.

Personal success factors:

  • Skilled in collaborating and communicating with other teams and departments.
  • Comfortable with taking the lead and decision making.

About the company

Northvolt is a European supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. Founded in 2016 to enable the European transition to a decarbonized future, Northvolt has made swift progress on its mission to deliver the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery with a minimal CO2 footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling. Northvolt Ett is a next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, the gigafactory will be one of the largest battery cell factory in Europe and produce at least 32 GWh of capacity annually.

Alongside Northvolt Ett, Northvolt is also establishing a manufacturing site for battery systems in Gdansk, Poland. This facility, Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, will industrialize and produce world leading battery systems in order to meet the increased demand for complete battery solutions on the European market. The factory is a highly automated, state-of-the-art production facility for battery modules and energy storage solutions.

We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a dynamic environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs in Västerås, as well as Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, in Gdansk, for production of battery systems. We are also preparing for upcoming positions at the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå.
