Civil Underground - Design Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a talented intern who wants to be a part of the Civil, Structural, Architectural Northvolt design team developing and executing factories for the world’s greenest battery! In this role you will be a direct part of the Civil Underground Design Team for the Road, Paving and Underground services of our battery factories.

You will be part of an innovative, enthusiastic and friendly team! We believe you have a background in studying Civil Engineering.

Responsible for preparing, reviewing or coordinating the civil engineering design, on assigned project.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

• Preparation or review of Northvolt underground drainage philosophy and implementation in design
• Coordinate/ gather the civil design requirements from multiple disciplines
• Ensure coordination between internal /external stakeholders and design consultants
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements
• Ability to carry out conceptual design independently to communicate design intent when necessary
• Preparation or review of roads, paving, excavation and trenches, sumps and pond and underground piping and electrical trench design
• Attendance in inter-disciplinary BIM/model reviews or 2D drawing reviews
• Attendance in design meetings.
• Control of material quantities; experience with Swedish methods is an advantage
• Ensure deliverables required to be submitted by design consultants are provided in a timely, safe, efficient and high-quality manner.
• Resolve technical queries from Contractors
• Technical support to procurement, commercial, construction and commissioning.
• Support in implementation of the drainage and maintenance/ operational procedures.
• Review technical data CSA for process equipment during design, FAT and installation phase
• Work with the Maintenance and Operations Teams to achieve a successful handover of the design documentation and flawless start-up
• Review of red-line and / or as built documentation
• Implementation of civil, underground, road and paving design procedures, basis of design, civil design specifications and associated typical drawings i.e. Northvolt factory blueprint electrical design.
• Ensure full compliance with Northvolt policies, regulation and governance

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications/education/experience

• Studying for Bachelors or Master’s in Civil Engineering
• Student membership of Professional registration - Civil Engineer, or equivalent.
• Computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Fluency in English
• Valuable (but not required) is fluency in other languages, including Swedish
• Awareness/Knowledge of designing industrial buildings according to European and Swedish codes and safety standards.
• Awareness/Knowledge of carrying out civil engineer design work
• Awareness/Knowledge of working in a multidiscipline environment
• Awareness/Knowledge of brownfield and greenfield projects
• Awareness/Knowledge in all project design phases, from concept to basic and detailed design
• Awareness/Knowledge of following design projects through to construction phase
• Awareness/Knowledge of site based engineering roles
• Awareness/Knowledge with, and motivated to, setting up work methods and procedures, work with process evaluation and documentation.
• Awareness/Knowledge of working in a multi-cultural environment
• Awareness/Knowledge of working with European and Swedish standards and regulations
• Awareness/Knowledge using all/some of MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D software
