Health, Safety and Environment in NCE has the overall purpose of enabling our factories, construction, and service to ensure all employees come home safely. In scope also to decrease the overall impact on the Environment from our activities. We own the regional management system and ensure compliance with the Global management system and legal requirements in all our countries. You will report to the Regional Head of HSE, and will work with the Construction Management team, particularly the Senior Vice President, who will be the key stakeholder.

Responsibilities The Director, HSE Construction position is a critical role within Vestas' NCE Health, Safety, and Environment function, overseeing a team of HSE professionals, both employees and contractors, dispersed throughout the North and Central Europe. This position's primary responsibilities involve supporting the HSE needs of our Customer Project Execution (Construction) business, offering guidance and consultation on all aspects of HSE pertaining to construction, and commissioning of onshore and offshore wind turbine generators.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting a safety culture using human performance principles and operational learning
  • Ensuring compliance with regional and local HSE regulations
  • Building and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Lead, mentor, and support a geographically dispersed HSE team
  • Track and analyze hazards and incidents to promote continuous improvement
  • Oversee the development and implementation of HSE strategies, including environmental initiatives
  • Manage ISO standard certifications, audits, and HSE-related training programs

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree with a minimum of five to eight years' work experience in General Industry, Industrial, or Construction environmental, health, and safety preferred
  • Certification (CSP/ASP/CRSP/GSP) preferred
  • Experience in applying international HSE standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001) across business units and geographies
  • Experience with cranes, lifting and rigging, working at heights, safety management systems, control of hazardous energy, confined space requirements, work at heights and soft tissue injury prevention
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and basic skills in SAP
  • Fluent in English

  • Expertise in mentoring and coaching, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in interpreting regulations and company policies, and in developing regional HSE campaigns that promote ownership
  • Effective in influencing and collaborating with executive leadership
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced technical and presentation writing capabilities
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in a remote environment with flexible hours
