For our Blade Manufacturing Concept Team, within the Blade Stubmodules and Technology in Technology, we are looking for a highly skilled Blade Structural Engineer within Manufacturing Digitalization. The Blade Manufacturing Concept Team is in general responsible for exploring new structural technologies which enhance blade manufacturability and maintain development roadmaps in alignment and synergy with existing product and technology roadmaps also maintained by the Blade Module and in close corporation with the Offshore Operations organization that is responsible for the industrialization and serial production of the blades. The engineer within manufacturing digitalization will be responsible for developing numerical models that can simulate existing manufacturing processes, collect relevant feedback from process sensors and exploring new digitalization technologies within blade manufacturing.

How to contribute our vision

You will work at the interface between the blade design and manufacturing. As a part of your work you will take lead in development of numerical modelling tools for simulation of manufacturing processes like:

  • Material placement with focus on material handling operations
  • Blade casting with focus on Resin transfer molding, curing kinetics and heat transfer

Further you will be supporting the blade manufacturing digitalization roadmap. Here you will have to engage in contact with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure activities meets expectations. You will also serve as a bridge between the blade design department and the factories when it comes to data acquisition and use hereof to validate the numerical simulations of the production processes.

What you need to make a difference

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. 

The ideal candidate must have an engineering background with composite material sciences and structural mechanics.  

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or allied disciplines (Aerospace Engineering, Naval Engineering, etc.) 
  • Composite design and composite structural mechanics 

Competencies

  • Self-driven with high accountability.  
  • High communication and analytical skills. 
  • Willing to work in a multi-cultural environment. 

Following experiences would be considered:  

  • Experience in numerical modeling of the infusion and curing process of wind turbine blades. 
  • Experience in correlating production data to numerical data. 
  • Work experience in wind energy industry 

Excellent English skills both orally and in writing are a must in the international team, and it is of highest importance that you can communicate your results in a clear and convincing manner. Furthermore, you have a structured approach to your work, can handle multiple assignments simultaneously without losing overview and you are driving your work independently. 

Most importantly, you challenge yourself and your colleagues to achieve the best results. You have a high professional competency and you have a desire to develop your skills. You have good collaboration skills and you can manage to act in different cultural contexts. To thrive in this position, you must have a strong result- and customer-oriented approach.
