Lead Electrical Systems Engineer – Wind Power

Your Day at a Glance

As Lead Electrical Systems Engineer you are the technical focal point for all electrical matters on North-American onshore wind projects. You lead electrical and grid-related engineering activities across pre-sale and post-sale phases, ensuring technical alignment, compliance and operational excellence.

You provide expert guidance on turbine and plant-level electrical systems, drive technical decisions, support customer and contract negotiations, and coordinate with Project Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Service Operations and Global Engineering. You set technical direction, uphold Siemens Energy’s standards in HSE, quality and compliance, and shape best-practice standards. Travel up to 10 % is required.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Act as technical owner for electrical systems in wind turbines and plant applications; lead pre-sale engineering, customer negotiations and contract-exhibit approval.
  • Own post-sale technical resolution, root-cause analyses, corrective actions and field support for electrical components (generators, converters, transformers, MV switchgear, protection, grounding, LPS, grid connection).
  • Drive work-intake, prioritisation and tracking; evaluate performance data and implement systemic corrective & preventive actions.
  • Approve engineering documentation, guidelines and lessons learned; represent Siemens Energy in IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC forums.
  • Drive standardisation and technical governance across Wind Engineering.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver cost-effective, compliant, scalable solutions.

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, focus on power systems or power electronics preferred.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in electrical power systems, preferably wind energy.
  • Deep expertise in electrical components and grid-connected equipment, converters, generators, transformers, MV equipment, protection relays, grounding, LPS, grid compliance.
  • Proven record leading pre-sale and post-sale engineering activities and customer-facing technical authority roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC, IEC); experience in standards committees is an asset.

The Team
