The Blasting Operator performs surface preparation and cleaning of turbine components using grit blasting and dry ice cleaning. Responsible for contaminant-free surfaces, the role supports repair and coating processes while upholding safety, environmental and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Grit-blast turbine components to remove coatings, corrosion and contaminants per procedure.
• Operate dry-ice blasting equipment for precision cleaning without surface damage.
• Prepare surfaces for subsequent coating or repair.
• Maintain blasting and cleaning equipment in safe condition.
• Comply with environmental regulations for waste and media disposal.
• Collaborate with engineers, coating technicians and quality inspectors.
• Keep current on blasting technologies and best practices.

What You Bring

• Education: Vocational diploma or technical certificate in mechanical, industrial or related field.
• Experience: ≥5 years in grit blasting, dry-ice cleaning or industrial surface preparation, ideally in repair or manufacturing.
• Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of grit-blasting and dry-ice processes and equipment.
  • Understanding of surface-preparation standards (e.g. ISO, SSPC).
• Safety Awareness: Solid grasp of safety and environmental regulations for blasting.
• Attention to Detail: Precise surface finishes and quality compliance.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written skills.
• Computer Skills: Basic MS Office for documentation.
