Job Description

Our Validation department in Västerås is looking for the next generation of passionate and autonomous data analysts who want to join our mission to develop the next level of green batteries for our customers.

This is your chance to start your career in the Li-ion technology industry. The Validation team is working directly with customer projects and cell development to ensure the excellent performance & safety of Northvolt’s products – batteries. Increasing amount of test demands especially in performance and life testing generate huge amounts of data, which needs to be processed, visualized, and summarized.

During the internship, you will be part of an agile data team that works towards standardizing, automatizing and improving data analysis methods for our validation team. You will develop data analysis tools (in python) for validation, support with data visualization and generate automated data summaries. On top you will have the chance to learn about Li-ion batteries and get to know all phases of the testing process, starting from setting test procedures up to the results presentation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop data analysis standards and tools for automated analysis
• Create visualizations and reports validating the performance of our Li-ion cells
• Help the team to perform and innovate
• Gain insight into data analysis, software development and Li-ion batteries

The person we are looking for is passionate about developing knowledge in data analysis and has a curious mindset. Ideally, you are eager to learn, take ownership of the tasks on hand and like to work and communicate with colleagues from various backgrounds and cultures.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

• Bachelor or equivalent work experience within electrochemical, material or electrical field
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
• Python skills: Data analysis and visualization (jupyter, pandas, matplotlib/seaborn/bokeh/plotly, etc.)
• Comfortable using version control tools (e.g. git)
• Quick learner and capable of independently driving tasks to the end
• Curious and capable of working in fast paced environments with a proactive attitude
• Passionate and purpose driven

Bonus points for:

• Familiarity with data storage technologies (SQL DB, GCS/S3)
• Familiarity with Automotive Development Processes
• Knowledge of production, development and testing of Lithium-ion batteries
• Experience in multicultural, start-up environment
