We are now recruiting for a Lean Specialist to join our team of 6, sitting within the Operational Excellence department, the Lean Team forms a core part of our offshore wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Hull, United Kingdom.

Based in the UK (United Kingdom), you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Lean activities within your designated area of responsibility with the goal of achieving performance improvement through delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.

The Lean Specialist forms a core part of the production team, working closely with the Operational management, Engineering and Quality to identify, prioritize, analyze and lead improvement initiatives to achieve SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People) targets.

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the Segment/Area meets the requirements of Siemens Gamesa Manufacturing System (SGMS) (audit / improvement plans) supporting improvement to tools utilized as defined by the Global program

  • Delivering the site’s Lean strategy in their area of responsibility, with the aim of embedding a culture of continuous improvement

  • This role will act as a partner to their area’s Operational Management Team in accurate identification, development and deployment of lean tools, in-line with the above strategy

  • Analysis of site processes and losses to identify and drive to completion improvement opportunities

  • Leading Kaizen / Continuous Improvement projects / Root Cause Analysis sessions/5S events, simultaneously coaching and developing participants

  • Training of key Lean / continuous improvement tools (5S, Production Flow principles, formal problem-solving methodology, root cause analysis)

  • Supporting the Idea Management process (Top Ideas, Just Fix It) and working across functions to ensure the process runs effectively

  • Facilitation of meetings, workshops and coaching of change processes and activities within defined areas of responsibilities

  • Evaluation of improvement initiative benefits and costs and reporting on this to stakeholders

  • Organizing and leading "Best Practice Sharing" sessions with support functions and operations

  • Upkeep and input into development of digital tools and enhancements for improved data collection/control/analysis/reporting methods

  • Support the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program

What you need to make a difference

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for,

  • An ability to implement change, working with a variety of different stakeholders: Strong communication skills, confidence in presenting and leading/coaching others to a positive outcome

  • A self-motivated starter finisher. Someone who can see through initiatives

  • Demonstrable track record of delivering process step change initiatives and projects

  • Experience leading/deploying Lean methods/projects in a manufacturing environment through: 5S, Production Flow/Line balancing, RCA, VSM

  • Strong communication skills. Professionals who are able communicate confidently to a wide array of stakeholders, tailoring messages to respective audiences

  • Ability and experience utilizing structured problem-solving methodology (A3, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control-(DMAIC), 5Whys)

  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in diagrammatical and statistical form, utilizing MS Office tools: translating data to inform stakeholders and develop action plans.

  • Preferably Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or equivalent certified

  • Preferably with degree in Engineering, business, manufacturing or equivalent/related field experience
