Vestas Technology & Operations > Research & Development (R&D) > Product Applications & Controls R&D > Loads & Control (LaC) Module > LaC Onshore Product Applications Vestas Technology & Operations is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within R&D, you'll find our department, LaC Onshore Product Applications as part of Loads & Control Module. As part of the Product Application & Controls R&D, the Loads & Control (LaC) Module contributes to: Designing and optimizing Vestas’ products to ensure optimal performance. Developing advanced load and control strategies to meet product and market roadmap requirements. Translating product roadmaps into actionable module requirements while ensuring seamless integration across the full value chain. As part of Onshore Product Applications, the EBIT (Earnings before Interest & Taxes) Team aims to addressing generic fleet and software issues in close collaboration with the Quality department within the Loads & Control (LaC) module. To attain this, the EBIT Team focuses on: Identifying and formulating solutions to generic fleet and software issues. Delivering end-to-end solutions, including feasibility assessment, execution, testing, and implementation. Collaborating with multiple PAC modules to ensure faster software rollouts and efficient testing.

Responsibilities As a Specialist in the EBIT Team, you will undertake a significant technical role, handling various aspects of Loads and Control development, from feasibility studies to full validation and certification Your primary responsibilities include

  • Balancing trade-offs between power production and loading in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Optimizing product life cycles for both legacy and ongoing products by leveraging insights from fleet experience
  • Developing and validating control solution models to enhance product performance
  • Testing and integrating innovative technologies into new wind turbine designs
  • Calculating design loads, power performance, and noise levels for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Guiding the certification process, including design load verification and test campaigns on prototype wind turbines. Approving site-specific solutions recommended by technical leads
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, encouraging technical growth within the team
  • As the team’s main technical specialist, your knowledge will stimulate new strategies and focus on quality in Loads and Control development  

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in structural, civil, wind, mechanical, control, mechatronic engineering or related field. 08–10 years of professional experience in the wind industry
  • Experience in wind turbine product development, specifically focusing on load and control aspects
  • Sound capabilities in innovative simulation of mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with aeroelastic tools such as Flex5, Bladed, or HAWC2
  • Proficiency in programming, particularly using languages such as Matlab, Python
  • Comprehensive understanding of the control of mechanical systems
  • Project management certification (is beneficial)

  • Proficiency in managing projects with clear milestones and strict adherence to deadlines
