Cost Engineer – Auxiliary Systems for Large Gas & Steam Turbines and Generators

Cost Engineering drives cost transparency and optimization for externally sourced materials, components and systems across the Siemens Energy product portfolio.

As a Cost Engineering expert for auxiliary turbine and generator systems you will lead diverse projects, from generating cost-saving ideas in interdisciplinary teams to leveraging the innovation power of external suppliers. You transfer measures to products and solutions sold to external customers and represent Procurement in new-product development and new business fields.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Build close collaboration between Cost Engineering and Procurement to create cost transparency
• Coordinate with Cost Management to achieve common goals
• Maintain close exchange with suppliers to assess strengths/weaknesses and drive process improvement and cost efficiency
• Conduct theoretical Cost Structure Analyses (CSA) for customer-specific negotiations
• Actively support the commodity/supplier strategy and plan CE capacity according to demand
• Cross-functional cooperation with Marketing, Sales and project estimation for new or optimized product offerings
• Perform detailed analysis of supplier-specific cost structures to identify savings potential
• Evaluate scaling effects through supplier bundling and promote standardization
• Develop and implement concrete cost-out measures together with R&D, Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing
• Lead lean and productivity workshops with suppliers
• Provide expert advice during negotiations and represent Procurement in selected R&D programs

What You Bring

• Combined technical/commercial or technical university degree (Bachelor or higher)
• ≥ 5 years professional experience in the energy business, engineering, R&D, production, project management or supply chain
• Experience with gas-turbine/steam-turbine or generator core commodities preferred
• Experience with Design-to-Cost and global cross-functional teams desired
• Proficient use of cost-relevant IT tools (e.g. TcPCM)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, results- and solution-oriented mindset
