Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer (South West)

Role

Install and commission smart gas & electricity meters in domestic properties across Somerset and the South West. Represent Octopus Energy in customers’ homes, demonstrate the kit and explain how smart metering supports cheaper, greener energy.

Essential

• MOCoPA certificate (issued within last 2 years)
• Gas Safe CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or recognised equivalent)
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 points)
• Proven safety record and customer focus

Package

• £36,500 base salary (£3,042 / month gross)
• £2,500 annual performance bonus + piece-work fit bonuses
• £25 weekly lunch allowance

• £15 extra for every install beyond daily target of 6

Overtime & call-out

1-in-5 weeks on-call (Mon-Sun) £250 retainer; paid door-to-door when called. Saturday premium: £50 attendance + £70 dual-fuel / £35 single-fuel install. Technical aborts paid at half rate.

Clear path to upskill into EV charge-point and heat-pump commissioning as Octopus expands its zero-carbon tech fleet.

Hiring process

Eligible applicants are invited to “Octopalooza”: a practical trade test, qualification check and short interview with an Area Manager. Full process completed within 4 weeks; accommodations available on request.
