The Role

As Head of Strategic Finance, Africa you will be a senior leader within Zipline’s global Strategic Finance team and a core member of the Africa leadership team. You own end-to-end financial strategy, planning, and performance management for all African markets while shaping Zipline’s consolidated global financial strategy.

Location: South San Francisco, CA (in-person), with periodic travel to Africa.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute Africa’s financial strategy within the global consolidated business
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis for African operations
• Partner closely with GTM, Engineering, Operations, and G&A teams to secure sustainable growth and unit economics
• Build and lead a small, high-caliber finance team
• Structure financially viable contracts with governments, donors, and commercial partners
• Ensure compliance, reporting, and internal controls together with local and U.S. finance teams
• Lead financial evaluation of scale-up and expansion scenarios for Platform 1 & 2 in Africa

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of finance experience, 5+ in senior or leadership roles
• Experience in high-growth, operations-intensive environments (logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, infrastructure)
• Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis skills
• Experience with African markets and/or public sector strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity, multi-currency environments
• Proven people leadership and ability to translate complex finance concepts into clear guidance
• Comfortable in matrixed leadership and willing to travel extensively

Compensation

USD 220,000–250,000 annual base salary (gross) plus equity and additional benefits for candidates meeting minimum qualifications.
