Supply Chain Management Apprentice

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Supply Chain Management Apprentice you will procure materials and services to meet customer and project needs, prioritising safety and quality in line with company procedures. Working alongside experienced professionals you will gain hands-on experience while building the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in supply chain management.

You will collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Quality, Engineering, Project Management and Finance, and engage with external suppliers. The role combines practical workplace learning with formal study within a structured apprenticeship programme.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Create and manage direct and indirect purchase orders in the SAP ERP system
  • Monitor purchase orders from placement to delivery, including expediting and resolving delivery and invoice queries
  • Work with Quality, Engineering and Project colleagues to resolve technical and quality issues
  • Support supplier qualification and onboarding and maintain accurate vendor records
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to support supply chain management
  • Proactively manage and resolve day-to-day supply chain issues

Your Apprenticeship Programme

  • Duration: 2-year structured apprenticeship, with potential 2-year extension toward a Level 4 qualification
  • Qualification: Professional procurement qualification via CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
  • Training model: One day of off-the-job training per week plus practical workplace experience
  • Support: Continuous mentoring, structured learning and regular development reviews

The programme provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in Supply Chain and Procurement and the opportunity to progress into a permanent role upon successful completion.

What You Bring

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grades 7–9 (or forecast to achieve)
  • Enthusiasm and a genuine interest in supply chain and business
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Organised approach and attention to detail
  • Solid IT skills and interest in Microsoft Office/data analysis
