Customs Country Manager Japan

A Snapshot of Your Day
As Senior Customs Expert and Manager you oversee Trade Compliance activities for Siemens Energy across the Asia-Pacific region, with primary focus on Japan. You ensure customs processes and governance standards are implemented and adhered to, working closely with procurement, production, order management, logistics and customs brokers. You continuously optimize and automate these processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Identify and analyze customs-related risks in business and processes together with the Regional Customs team; derive and implement mitigation actions
- Guarantee accurate and consistent dissemination of customs regulations throughout the organization
- Monitor and control customs audits and ensure timely corrective actions
- Manage customs brokers and implement standard operating procedures
- Develop and enforce guidelines and plans to optimize processes
- Conduct training to secure compliance with customs regulations
- Consult internal stakeholders and share best practices
What You Bring
- Degree in economics or law with focus on foreign trade & customs, or relevant experience within customs administration
- Proven customs experience in a matrix organization
- Independent, entrepreneurial working style and enthusiasm for creating new solutions
- Strong teamwork, decision-making and communication skills combined with structured, analytical approach
- International project management and change management experience
- Background in foreign trade gained in authorities, consultancies, corporations or associations
- Proficiency in customs and ERP systems, including requirements definition and roll-outs
- Willingness to travel up to 15%
