How to contribute to our vision

As part of Regional Electrical Engineering team, candidate will provide specialized Second-Level support to NA Region Service business, such as but not limited to:

Provide Engineering support for Operations and Maintenance activities, to include:

  • Advanced Troubleshooting on Electrical Systems, mostly focused on Power Converters (Direct Drive, Full Converter and DFIG topologies) and Grid Issues.
  • Familiar with Root Cause Analysis of Electrical Components Failures.
  • Create and Revise method statements to be used by O&M personnel.

Provide Engineering support for Project Management activities, to include:

  • SGRE Wind Turbine electrical components lead (power units, generators, motors, cables, electrical cabinets, controllers, grounding, lightning, etc.).
  • Support technical customer discussions (including electrical grid requirements, electrical test requirements, wind farm electrical design, etc.).
  • Lead engineer interface for electrical product modifications and upgrades to sites.

Provide Engineering support for Sales and Proposal activities, to include:

  • Provide engineering review of customer specifications and requirements (comment and exceptions Provided to Sales/Proposals).
  • Support technical customer discussions (including electrical grid requirements, electrical test requirements, wind farm electrical design, etc.).
  • Prepare final engineering clarification document defining scope for contract.

Provide Engineering support for Supply Chain activities, to include:

  • Provide technical response/solutions for material dispositions.
  • Support vendor qualification/evaluation.

Relocation will not be offered for this role.

What You Need To Make a Difference

A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for…

  • Solid work experience in electrical engineering roles, Wind Industry experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of electrical power system operation and performance in steady state and fault conditions required.
  • Must be familiar with 3-phase power converters and power units, cabling, etc.
  • Solid understanding of major wind turbine components and functions.
  • Power system controls, Motors and Motor Protection.
  • Instrumentation, relaying/metering, CT/PT, HV/MV/LV circuit breakers, Medium voltage switchgear.
  • Schematics for control and power distribution systems, Single line diagrams.
  • SCADA and MET equipment, Fiber Optics.
  • Electrical codes/standards for Wind Power Plants (IEC, IEEE, NEMA, NERC, FERC, WECC, ERCOT, UL, FAA, etc.).
  • Comfortable in working within multi-cultural and multi-national team.
  • Must have good verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to direct multi-skilled professional teams.
  • Analytic, self-driven, and results-oriented professional.
  • Stay informed of current technical issues and pending solutions.
  • Will be required to participate on local/regional/national/international working groups in this area of specialty.
  • Fluent in English. Spanish and Portuguese a plus.
  • Ability to 25% travel.
