By accepting this mission, you will take a key role in shaping Northolt’s Giga Factory in Heide to produce the worlds greenest battery cells. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation and material flow solutions in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

About the job

You will join a team of skilled individuals, who are equally excited about implementing Northvolt’s ambitious plans to rapidly deploy a highly efficient world class gigafactory in Heide. This is your unique opportunity to focus on the next generation material flow equipment following its life cycle from detail design and development to installation and commissioning until start of production and even beyond. In complex automation projects, your bold, calculated decisions ensure compliance with Northvolt's visionary expansion plans in Heide.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Shape the future of material handling in the battery manufacturing environment by interacting with key automation solution suppliers in an international setting.
  • Coordinate and execute the detail design and commissioning work of the equipment together with the suppliers and with other Northvolt departments (e.g. Construction, Process, Purchasing, Digitization, Manufacturing).
  • Collaborate with the Automation and Controls Team to implement the material flow system design into functions in the WMS/WCS/ MES.
  • Create the basic operational standards required to hand-over the engineering project to the manufacturing team.

The person we are looking for is goal-oriented, passionate and structured. You thrive by technically leading others and work towards common goals. You are used to a high-paced work environment and have good time management skills together with high self-discipline and motivation to make things better by always questioning status-quo. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Germany (to start with) and see the results of your work.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence.
