Position Overview

The scope of the role is to apply predictive maintenance procedures to the wind farms managed by Siemens Gamesa by monitoring the origin of emerging drivetrain issue/s and by providing vibration monitoring predictive services to make early detection of possible failures in the main components of wind turbines and consequently optimize the maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

1. Monitor SGRE wind turbines and accountable for two main failure indicators: mainly by vibration and oil analysis

2. Responsible for actions associated with this monitoring, this mainly includes:

  • Collection of data from wind turbines under warranty and under SGRE O&M and maintenance responsibility

  • Analysis of collected information

  • Creating reports with (preventive) actions

  • Monitoring of recommended actions;

  • Support local maintenance personnel on TCM, SMP issues, SMP-8C/12C and/or malfunctioning monitoring units;

  • Ensure adequate training and knowledge sharing within the SMP CC team.

  • Ensure continuous training in the services offered by SMP CC.

  • Ensure the maintenance of SMP Control Center procedure.

  • Assist in coordinating the work of the SMP CC with the rest of the company.

  • Ensure correct and adequate support of shared service units in SGRE.

  • Ensure all incoming data is analyzed and reported in the time bound period.

  • Carry out a statistical study of the faults found in wind turbines.

  • Be the interlocutor of the SMP CC with the Engineering Department for the development of the SMP hardware and software and solving communication problems related to the SMP (SMP-PLC).

  • Technical support to technical analysts (on vibration analysis)

  • Keep the vibration analysis model updated (failure frequencies, wind turbine model, gearbox model, generator model, etc.)

3. Assist in scheduling corrective and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment: Set priorities according to vibration data analysis, when requested by Ops colleagues

4. Assist in identifying the root cause of problems presented in mechanical equipment:  Checking the origin of the problem, analyzing its operation, raising possible diagnosis and investigating the operating process, presenting the solution that corrects the problem found in the most viable way in terms of cost, deadline and equipment performance.

5. Propose improvements in the designed process: Verifying the results in time and in qualitative analysis and repair services for components, analyzing possible failures or opportunities for improvement in the workflow, proposing restructuring of the procedure, so that maintenance is in line with reality and expectations of the local customer.

Required Knowledge/Skill, Education, and Experience

  • 2 or more years of vibration discipline experience in solving machine problems using vibration analysis

  • ISO Category II Certification from an Accredited Certification Provider (Vibration Institute, Mobius, Technical Associates, etc.)

  • Minimum travel required is up to :Less than 10%

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working around rotating equipment.

Preferred Knowledge/Skill, Education, and Experience

  • Cat I Vibration Analyst:  at least 1 year of vibration data collection and rudimentary analysis

  • Cat II Vibration Analyst:  2 or more years vibration discipline experience in solving machine problems using vibration analysis.

  • Cat III Vibration Analyst:  5 or more years vibration discipline experience in solving machine problems using vibration analysis.

  • Experience using hand tools

Additional Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience with other manufacturers CBM Hardware and Software such as Bently Nevada and SKF

  • Experience with online monitoring systems such as Bently Nevada, CSI 6500, BK VIBRO, SKF

  • 5 or more years vibration discipline experience in solving machine problems using vibration analysis.

  • Experience in other CBM technologies: laser alignment, thermography, NDT, lubricant analysis, and other technical/mechanical experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team

  • Can adapt to changing conditions and job priorities

  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks

  • Competent in the use of basic computer software, such as Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Strong work ethic

  • Able to work within an empowered team environment.

  • Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others

  • Demonstrate the following competencies: leadership, initiative, and the ability to learn
