For our Blade Submodules and Technology Department in Technology, we are looking for a highly skilled engineer within composite integrity. The Blade Submodules and Technology Department works on cutting edge technology in an international environment. The job will expose the engineer to a wide range of tasks allowing personal and technical growth and achieving a deep understanding of wind turbine blades.

How to contribute to our vision

As a PhD within Blade Composites, you are expected to take a leading role in the development of the structural technologies for the next generation of blades. As a part of your work you will

  • Contribute to technology development projects with regards to blade structures and manufacturing processes
  • Develop new micro/macro scale models of the evolution of composite damage in turbine blades
  • Develop V&V methods for validating the damage models using coupon and substructure testing
  • Proactively maintain interfaces with other PhD students within the program
  • Proactively maintain interfaces in the Blade module

What you need to make a difference

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for

  • A MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
  • You have a good understanding of lightweight structures and composites
  • You like to work both on practical topics as well as performing numerical tasks
  • You can drive your own tasks actively at a high standard

Excellent English skills both orally and in writing are a must in the international team, and it is of highest importance that you can communicate your results in a clear and convincing manner. Furthermore, you have a structured approach to your work, can handle multiple assignments simultaneously without losing overview and you are driving your work independently.

You will be enrolled at Aalborg University, hence will be working at both SGRE and Aalborg University. Enrollment to the Doctorial School at Aalborg University requires compliance to Ministerial Order No. 1039 of August 27, 2013, and candidates not fulfilling these requirements are not considered.
