Our department is divided into Materials & Chemical Testing and Structural Testing, offering a comprehensive platform for professional growth. You will play a crucial role in performing detailed tests on various materials and structural components, ensuring high standards of quality and integrity for substructures, resins, and composites.

Responsibilities

We're seeking a skilled technician to join our Fracture Mechanics area within Blade Material Testing at Vestas. This role focuses on conducting various physical testing techniques on composite materials such as GRP and Carbon, which are integral to manufacturing wind turbine blades. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting tensile static and cyclic load testing to assess material endurance
  • Performing impact testing to evaluate the resilience of composites
  • Investigating environmental degradation to ensure long-term material reliability
  • Overseeing the laboratory space, maintaining organization, ensuring stock levels, and overseeing equipment calibration
  • Handling data processing, with a focus on producing and reporting precise results for internal review and further analysis

This position requires adherence to ISO/ASTM standards and offers a chance to contribute to supplier material qualification, prototype quality assurance, and critical incident investigations. Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in engineering or chemistry, evidenced by a bachelor's degree or HNC/HND, and bolstered by hands-on laboratory experience. While academic credentials are important, we highly value relevant practical experience and transferable skills. The ideal applicant will have:

  • Previous experience with developing practical skills in various chemical and physical testing techniques
  • Experience working with materials such as composites, resins, adhesives, GRP, CFRP, or similar
  • The ability to create and follow detailed work instructions and quickly adapt to our established processes.
  • Familiarity with DAQ control hardware and software is highly desirable
  • A background in maintaining and organizing a laboratory environment
  • Solid capabilities in data processing and reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity in the communication of results
  • Knowledge of chemical analysis and testing would also be advantageous, although not essential

Competencies

  • Advanced communication skills, capable of effective interaction with technical teams worldwide
  • The ability to strategically plan and reprioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong IT proficiency, including familiarity with equipment software and applications like MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • A sense of responsibility for one's work and workspace, coupled with competence in one's skills and knowledge
  • An organized and process-oriented approach, with a keen eye for identifying and implementing enhancements
