Your role

  • Own mechanical subsystems from concept to field deployment
  • Design parts and assemblies in 2D/3D CAD, grounded in engineering fundamentals
  • Build and test rapid prototypes to gather quick learnings
  • Develop electro-mechanical test fixtures to verify component reliability
  • Root-cause failures and create tests to replicate and eliminate them
  • Document decisions so the entire team can follow your work

What you’ll bring

  • Completed second year of Undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering (Master/PhD also eligible)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building multiple mechanical systems outside the classroom
  • Strong fundamentals in structural analysis, part sizing, and CAD
  • Hands-on automation experience with actuators and microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi or similar)
  • Bias to action, clear communication, “can-do” attitude

Practical details
Full-time, in-person internship located in South San Francisco, CA or Dallas, TX; program runs May–August 2026.
Starting cash range USD 38–42/hour plus housing stipend, relocation support, paid sick time.
