We are looking for a dedicated Software Tech Lead to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. We have multiple sites to be launched in the coming years and we need you to help us in overseeing the implementation, design, deployment and commissioning of our MES solution for our new Gigafactory, Northvolt Drei, in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany.

About the job

We have invested significant effort in developing one of the most sophisticated Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for battery manufacturing - completely in-house. We aim to deploy and customize this system for each new factory and manufacturing setup on Northvolt's roadmap. We are now looking for driven software engineers to be responsible for system setup, equipment integration design, configuration, deployment, testing and validation of our MES system for our new factories and production lines to come.

You will be part of a project team which are responsible for deliver our digitalization offering to our manufacturing site Drei in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. You will work closely with the MES development engineers, platform engineers and our equipment suppliers to ensure we're able to setup and integrate Northvolt MES efficiently.

About the Team

As Drei is under ramp-up - we are establishing a function to prepare for our factory expansion and ensure the solutions we deploy are functioning as expected. On a daily basis, you will be working with our technical project managers leading the project teams, product managers behind the individual solutions and other software engineers to deliver our state of the art MES solution.

You will be a part of the Drei Digitalization Department which consists of software engineers who have a deep understanding of machine-to-MES architecture, production processes, and production needs. They are able to deploy and validate machine specific MES solutions and work closely with the suppliers and rest of digitalization at Northvolt to ensure a good delivery.

Software Tech Leads will be responsible to deliver Northvolt’s MES Core components to Drei manufacturing lines as well as maintaining and improving the system as the production lines are commissioned.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• System and integration design
• MES component configuration & deployment
• Digital commissioning - testing & validation
• Digital factory support

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in a forward deployed or integration-focused role.
• Expertise in designing and developing software solutions, with a focus on system integration.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Golang, Python, Java, C++) and experience with software development frameworks.
• Experience working with cloud solutions (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP etc)

Bonus points for:

• Knowledge of battery manufacturing processes and related equipment integration is a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and related technologies.
• Fluency in other languages (Japanese, Swedish, Chinese).
• Experience leading teams of software engineers
