Commercial Manager – I&C Behind-the-Meter Solutions

Role overview

Octopus Energy for Business (OEB) supplies 120k+ UK business customers and is now building a behind-the-meter offering that integrates on-site solar, battery storage and flexibility services for large energy users. You will be one of the first hires in the new I&C On-Site team, responsible for commercialising and selling these low-carbon solutions.

What you’ll do

• Build financial models and commercial proposals for on-site solar, battery and flexibility projects that cut customer costs, strengthen resilience and accelerate net-zero.
• Own the end-to-end sales process for the initial I&C behind-the-meter pipeline.
• Draft and negotiate EPC, O&M, financing and optimisation agreements alongside Legal.
• Partner with Octopus Group flexibility, generation and finance teams and external EPCs, OEMs and funders to stitch together turnkey customer solutions.

What you’ll need

• Proven track record in distributed energy / on-site low-carbon technology for I&C customers.
• Strong commercial skill-set: pricing, business-case modelling, contract management and direct sales.
• Technical understanding of on-site solar and battery systems and how they interact with flexibility markets.
• Comfort working in a start-up environment within a larger group: high autonomy, fast iteration, hands-on delivery.
