Finance Data Analyst

Octopus Energy is the UK’s largest energy supplier and the technology platform behind millions of customer accounts and billions of pounds in transactions. As we grow, we need a curious, detail-driven part- or fully-qualified accountant with strong data skills to help us understand, validate and control our expanding cost base.

What you’ll do

• Become the UK cost-base expert: map how costs arise, are validated and settled.
• Partner with Operations, Accounts Payable and other teams to embed real-world cost drivers into accrual and validation workflows.
• Build and maintain a robust cost-accrual model with Finance and Gross Margin teams; reconcile, risk-assess and highlight opportunities monthly.
• Automate invoice ingestion into NetSuite from external systems and design scalable invoice-validation processes.
• Roll out cost-validation solutions globally alongside our International Retail teams.

What you’ll need

• Part- or fully-qualified accountant actively studying (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Advanced SQL and Excel; experience with month-end, accruals and finance systems (NetSuite preferred).
• Data-literate and highly numerate with keen attention to detail.
• Clear communicator able to translate complex data for non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Energy-sector experience, especially settlement data.
• Python coding skills.
• Dashboard-building (Databricks, Streamlit, etc.).
• dbt, Lakehouse (Databricks), git and modern data-development practices.
