Engineering Manager (Citymapper)

At Citymapper (powered by Via), we help millions of people navigate cities with real-time transport data. Our Engineering Manager will lead a London-based backend team that builds and maintains the core infrastructure powering the Citymapper platform, ensuring data accuracy and reliability for routing, user features, and analytics.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of backend and data engineers.
• Own technical direction for scalable systems that ingest and serve large volumes of real-time transport data.
• Hands-on contribution to backend development, data pipelines, and analytics infrastructure.
• Ensure data quality, compliance, and high availability across all services.
• Partner with product, data science, and operations to launch new features and migrate systems.

Who You Are:

• 4+ years leading engineering teams; 8+ years in software or data engineering.
• Expertise in Python, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) and real-time data processing.
• BSc in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong communicator passionate about code quality, architecture, and team growth.
