Lead Design Engineer Instrumentation & Controls

You will design, develop, implement, operate and maintain instrumentation and electrical systems, focusing on the mathematical modelling of diverse systems, analysing their dynamic behaviour, and applying control theory to create controllers that deliver the desired performance. You may specialise in system design, configuration and automation.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Own the control-system scope for rotating-equipment projects together with project team members, especially System Engineering.
• Act as the project focal point for Instrumentation & Controls Engineering. Prepare datasheets, P&IDs, single-line and wiring diagrams and maintain the COMOS PT data model.
• Design and specify unit control systems, instrumentation and low-voltage wiring for rotating machinery used in industrial compression, power generation and oil & gas applications. Deliver drawings: P&IDs, instrument lists, control logic descriptions, panel layouts, I/O terminations, power distribution, installation plans, motor schematics and hard-wired circuits.
• Apply Siemens Energy design standards while adapting to customer specifications and international codes.
• Monitor and manage the engineering schedule and man-hour budget for your scope, releasing deliverables on time.
• Support detail engineering with internal and external customers.
• Conduct timely design reviews for your scope and contribute to project design reviews.

What You Bring

• Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation, Controls or Electronics; or equivalent state-certified technical degree plus relevant experience.
• 8+ years with rotating equipment for oil & gas, petrochemical and process industries, preferably in controls and instrumentation.
• Experience in electrical equipment engineering is a plus.
• Field service – installation & commissioning – experience is welcome.
• Hands-on use of object-oriented engineering software such as COMOS PT.
• Knowledge of API 670 (machinery protection), IEC 60079 (explosive atmospheres), DIN EN 60617 (graphical symbols).
• Strong analytical and cross-cultural skills.
