Field Technician – Winder

Your Day-to-Day

You will maintain and repair power-generation equipment at sites across Canada, the U.S. and other countries where Siemens Energy turbines are installed.

Your Impact

• Perform winding and machining on turbine-generators, stators, rotors, exciters, voltage regulators and related equipment from Siemens Energy, Westinghouse and other OEMs.
• Assist with coil winding, assembly, tool set-up, machining and accurate completion of work packages.
• Communicate job instructions clearly to supervisors and peers so quality and schedule targets are met.
• Maintain weekly time and expense reports.
• Recommend improvements to winding procedures and techniques.
• Work at customer sites domestically and internationally.
• Operate in challenging environments: wet/humid conditions, moving machinery, heights, outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, vibration and high-voltage areas.

What You Bring

• High-school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of industrial experience or training.
• Ability to read safety rules, O&M manuals and procedural documents.
• Willingness to travel up to 100 % (national & international).
• Availability for shift-work and overtime to meet aggressive schedules.
• Comfort climbing ladders/scaffolding and working in confined spaces.
• Capable of lifting 75 lb (34 kg).

Bonus Points

• Two-year electro-mechanical technician diploma.
• Minimum 2 years of generator winding or mechanical experience.
