Finance Operations Specialist – Debt

Join Octopus Electric Vehicles as a Finance Operations Specialist – Debt, owning arrears and collections for our rapidly-growing EV leasing book. You will handle late-stage delinquent accounts, design scalable collections workflows and act as finance’s ambassador across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage consumer and business accounts in arrears, ensuring FCA compliance throughout the collections lifecycle
• Resolve escalated cases from early collections, account management and vehicle recovery teams
• Build and document end-to-end processes for late and non-paying customers, including vehicle repossession and administration cases
• Produce accurate arrears reports for internal stakeholders and external funders
• Process settlements and insolvency claims with funders
• Handle internal (Slack) and external (Intercom) queries promptly and professionally
• Lay the groundwork for legal claims and court proceedings where required

What we need

• Proven experience in a regulated consumer-credit environment (FCA desirable)
• Numerical aptitude; advanced Excel / Google Sheets essential, SQL highly valued
• Customer-facing background, ideally in account management or collections
• Comfortable navigating CRM, billing and collections systems
• Strong communicator: can present financial data clearly and conduct difficult conversations with empathy
• Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, autonomous culture and meets tight deadlines
